The Hormel Family Foundation was founded in 1999 by the late Ben F. Hormel, himself a McCook entrepreneur, to support McCook Community College. Among his many business ventures, Ben F. Hormel operated the Chevrolet dealership in McCook. When Ben F. Hormel passed away in 2002, he passed on the torch to his children and grand-children, who operate the foundation today.
Our foundation is committed to education, entrepreneurship and business development in the McCook economic region. We believe that education and entrepreneurship are our strongest weapons against the population loss.
The Hormel Family Foundation provided the funding for the Ben F. Hormel Technology Center for Business and Industry, which was inaugurated in 2004 on the McCook Community College Campus. The Hormel Family Foundation is also committed to funding a number of internships and scholarships for students of McCook Community College.
McCook Community College is the sole beneficiary of any proceeds from the Hormel Family Foundation's stakes in the companies which have won the Hormel Family Foundation Business Plan Competition.
